New Holiday Traditions

During the holiday season, it’s easy to become overwhelmed by the hustle and bustle. But in all that chaos, there are some little moments of joy that you can savor if you make time for them. By creating unique and creative traditions, your family or closest friends will be able to enjoy the spirit of the season and make memories that can last a lifetime.

Decorating Party

Invite family and friends over for some eggnog and hot cocoa, put on some festive music, and provide all sorts of holiday decorations. Everyone can take turns making their own special decorations so year after year, you get to enjoy all the decorations crafted by your loved ones!

Scavenger Hunt

Make a list of items and activities to find or complete. You could create a list of unique and specific items or scenes that participants need to capture with their cameras or smartphones. If it’s not too cold outside, you could also take advantage of the outdoors by creating a nature-themed scavenger hunt, such as locating a pinecone, a smooth rock, or a bird feather.

Holiday Feast

Mix up traditional dishes with something new; you could even challenge everyone in the room to make their own inventive recipes to share with others. Why not try your hand at making Spicy Butterscotch Wings, Tamale Pie, or Gorgonzola Baked Polenta!

Digital Detox

As hard as it may be, set aside your phones, tablets, laptops… and just enjoy each other’s company without any distractions. Plan an outdoor activity such as hiking, camping, or a picnic in a scenic location. Or set up an art and craft station where guests can engage in creative activities like painting, drawing, or crafting. You could even encourage guests to bring their favorite books to share and create a cozy reading lounge.

Holiday Karaoke

Invite some family and friends over and have everyone pick a favorite holiday song. Then everyone can take turns performing their song for the group. This will not only provide a great deal of entertainment, but it’s also sure to bring lots of laughs and fond memories.

Give Back

Organize a volunteer drive with family or friends and spend time together helping those in need. Many non-profit organizations always need extra hands during the holidays – find one that resonates with you and your group and make a difference. This will be a great way to not only start a new tradition, but also show gratitude to those in your local community.

Creating new traditions doesn’t have to be hard, all you need is a little bit of creativity and some enthusiasm from everyone involved. Get together with those you love this season and start making some memories that will last far beyond the holiday season! Happy Holidays!
