100 Women Who Care about Long Island is a group of local women who are interested in supporting our communities by contributing to Long Island charities together as a group to increase the impact:
“We come from all walks of life and varying financial backgrounds. As individuals it is difficult to make a very large impact, but as a group we believe we have the ability to contribute to the growth of our communities in ways that we never before thought possible.
Our mission is to reach out and help our communities by finding at least 100 women to commit to our group. Commitment involves attending four, one-hour meetings a year, and pledging $100 per meeting ($400.00 per year) to support a local charity. If you cannot or prefer not to commit to $100 four times a year, you may partner with another woman to meet the $400 yearly commitment.
At each meeting, an opportunity is provided for three members of the group to present a five minute description of a pre-qualified local organization or agency in need. A Q&A session follows, after which members vote on the charity they wish to support. The winner is announced, and each member writes their $100 check directly to the winning charity.“
Also, make sure to check out The Theresa Foundation, which honors the memory of Theresa Alessandra Russo by touching the lives of children with special needs and their families. The Foundation fosters each child’s unique abilities through direct support and programs focusing on art, music, dance and recreation.
