Yes – unfortunately, the rumors are true. On Diciembre 15, 2020, Governor Cuomo signed into law changes to the New York power of attorney (“POA”) law, which will take effect on Junio 13, 2021.  We will cover:
  1. Your existing powers of attorney remain effective.
  2. Provides a clear procedure to direct someone to sign the power of attorney on their behalf.
  3. The separate statutory gift rider will not be required for new powers of attorney.
